My Platform
I believe in taking a big-picture view of the community. The council needs to understand what the citizens would like to see five or ten years down the road and then figure out how to make those goals a reality while maintaining essential services within their budget.
The biggest issue perennially is budgeting properly so that the city can address the current and future needs of the citizens without overburdening residents who are facing dramatic property tax increases. In particular, the city has struggled to set aside the funds required for road maintenance for far too long. Safe roads need to be prioritized, while doing what we can to minimize the tax bills for the residents.
I am a firm supporter of term limits for the Sachse City Council. I believe that regularly adding fresh voices to the council is great for democracy and motivating citizens to be involved.
For the past year, I have had concerns about the decision-making and oversight processes of the existing city council. I am running in the hopes of restoring honesty, integrity, and accountability to the city council and to the city administration. I’ve witnessed first-hand the damage that can be done when agenda-driven councilmembers are allowed to corrupt what is supposed to be an open and honest governmental process to serve their own desires. I will do everything I can to ensure that the city is serving the needs and desires of all of the citizens instead of the desires of the powerful and the well-connected.
I have tried to live my life as a selfless servant to others, both for Sachse and Texas. I think my 18 years as a volunteer to the city show that I care deeply about the city and its citizens. With my engineering mindset, I don’t rush into decisions without first listening to all of the arguments for and against the ideas. I strive to keep myself and those around me well-informed about critical issues we’re facing and try to pull together various viewpoints into a consensus by finding common ground. I prioritize open and honest communication, and I firmly believe in the principles of honesty, integrity, and accountability.
My Priorities for Sachse:
Accelerate road maintenance
Lower tax rates
Attractive retail and dining developments
Term limits
